Juni 1963, lie\u00df sich der M\u00f6nch Th\u00edch Qu\u1ea3ng \u0110\u1ee9c mit diesem Auto von der An Quang Pagoda nach Saigon fahren. Sobald er aus dem Auto ausgestiegen war, verbrannte er sich \u00f6ffentlich vor laufenden Kameras. Die Pr\u00e4sidentenfamilie hatte daf\u00fcr aber nur einige geringsch\u00e4tzige Kommentare \u00fcbrig. Daraufhin war Diem f\u00fcr die Amerikaner, die ihn bis dahin st\u00fctzten, nicht mehr tragbar. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt betrieben sie aktiv seinen Sturz und seine Ermordung.
