Beim Bau der innovativen Br\u00fccke gelangten v\u00f6llig neue Konstruktionsprinzipien zur Anwendung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Einige Zeit stand Patras unter dem Einfluss der Venezianer, was noch heute im Stadtbild deutlich erkennbar ist. 1820 wurde sie durch ein Erdbeben in weiten Teilen zerst\u00f6rt. 1821 flammte hier der griechische Unabh\u00e4ngigkeitskampf auf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dabei wurden die Osmanen auf die Zitadelle zur\u00fcckgedr\u00e4ngt.
