The Opening Night Party of TBEX 2014 in Athens took place in the Technopolis near the district of Keramaikos. The Technopolis, Athens’ Gazi Natural Museum is now used as a location for high-tech start-up companies, but also is a exhibition and events venue.
Like in whole Athens, the new spirit of optimism in the country could be felt here. Over 600 participants of the TBEX (Travel blog Exchange of European Conference) followed the invitation of the City of Athens.

We were welcomed by a band already at the entrance.
The first hall was transformed into a Greek village. Here you could explore products from all over Greece. Right at the entrance, the sponge diving island of Kalymnos presented its highlights.

Next to it one could observe handmade jewelry creation and folk art.

At further booths, a large selection of culinary delights, as naturally matured Proscutio and salami from the pine forests, cheese, olives, tomatoes, bread, pies and desserts were offered.
Our personal highlight was a creamy Halva mousse from the restaurant Aleria , of which one could hardly resist.
Natural juices, ouzo and wine were offered too. It was difficult to decide between wines of UMCSAMOS , Santo Wines from Santorini, Papaioannou Wines from Nemea or the wines of Boutari .

The organizer the TBEX Rick Calvert, the mayor of Athens, Mr Giorgios Kamins and the Minister for Tourism in Greece, Ms Olga Kefalogianni gave the welcoming and opening speeches.
The Mayor welcomed the guests and wished everyone success for the TBEX.
He asked the participants to explore the city and find inspiration for stories about Athens to share with the world. Personally, he wished everyone an experience that exceeds expectations and wants us all to be an Athenian too.

More InformationWe have liked the speech of the Minister very much since it has recognized and acknowledged the importance of the Internet for tourism. She remembered the strengths of Athens, the city of the writers and philosophers, a town with 1000 faces.
The Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Board invest with persistence in Social Media. Through the internet and the most powerful social media they communicate with every corner of the world authentic stories and images about Greece. So far, she also managed to achieve the goal to lead the Greek tourism from the crisis. 2014 was a record year for tourism in the country.
Art objects were exhibited in another hall.
The third hall was the stage for great live Greek bands. On a big screen, the current tweets were displayed.
