River Vibe Restaurant & Bar
Thanks to the initiative of Tommo & Megsy we got to know the River Vibe Restaurant & Bar in Bangkok. In a private initiative, the two had organized a meeting for drinks, sunset and travel chat on the rooftop terrace.

The River Vibe, at the same time also Guest House is near Chinatown. The marvelous terrace offers a panoramic view of the Chao Phraya river. In addition, the skyscraper silhouette of the metropolis can be seen again from new perspectives.

We have enjoyed the view of the river and the city again and again. During meal, drinking and chatting, the time passed quickly until darkness fell.

From the terrace we could see a hall where apparently an Indian festival was celebrated. We did not want to miss it.
Navratri Vegetarian Festival
After the meeting slowly disbanded, we go in the neighborhood below the River Vibe. It is part of Bangkok’s Chinatown. We immerse ourselves in a new world.

4k UHD video -> Navratri Vegetarian Festival – Bangkok
Navratri Vegetarian Festival is the Indian variant of the Chinese Vegetarian festival which we will show this in a separate video. Navratri serves the admiration of the Hindu divinity Durga. It lasts for 9 nights and 10 days in the Sanskrit. The vegetarian food shall clean the body. Some believers flagellate themselves or mutilate in the form that they pierce their cheeks with skewers or similar. However, we have not seen that.
This festival is not known in China, but only there abroad, where many Chinese live. Actually, it is called the Nine Emperor Gods Festival.

In addition to theater performances in the alleyways, temples and countless stalls with food are set up. Most attention is at the stall, where peanut brittle is crushed with large mallets and then sold in cake-like pieces.

We are a little uncertain by all these exotic impressions and do not know how the people will react to the camera. Suddenly, a man approaches me, after he notices that I am interested in his altar.

He asks me to follow him and leads me into a room in the background.

There he offers me rice, vegetables, tofu and a tea. I am surprised and a bit uncertain, because I do not know whether my wife has noticed, where I have disappeared. We did not want to lose each other in these surroundings. Therefore, I am a bit in a hurry but find just enough time to film my nice hosts and to thank them.

This hospitality really surprised us. I quickly found my wife, she has noticed where I disappeared. We still roam a bit through the streets and then go back to the hotel.
