On the way back from dinner we walk along the beach when we suddenly hear awesome music. It comes from the Beach Bar in Ao Nang.

After we listened to the musician for a while, we ask for the permission to film. After he says yes, I’ll quickly go to back to the hotel to fetch the film equipment. The question whether we can post the video on YouTube was answered with yes, in perfect German. Our curiosity was aroused now and we invited him for a glass of wine.
Jimmy Patrick Roche, real name James Patrick Roche, was born in the USA in Flushing New York. In the late ’60s, he came as a GI to Kaiserslautern. Later he worked as an interpreter at the US Consulate in Munich, where he spent the following decades.
But his true love has always been music. Jimmy worked as a singer and guitarist in various clubs in Munich Schwabing, among others in Nachtcafe and published his first singles, EPs, and albums, like Jimmy

During that time he earned gold records for the songs, he wrote for Roger Whittaker, the German Jazz-Rocker Klaus Doldinger’s Passport, and other stars. Among others, he has worked with Melanie, Donovan and the Fifth Dimension Jimmy is a multi-instrumentalist as well as a talented arranger, producer and studio engineer.

On a Southeast Asia trip, he came to Ao Nang and fell in love with this place. He decided to stay, rented a house in which he set up his own sound studio where he spends most of his time composing.
In all weathers, a daily walk for 2 hours along the beach serve as a balance in his everyday life. 3 to 4 times a week he plays at the beach bar and sometimes he gives a concert in Bangkok, where he presents his latest creations, such as Eastbound tracks.
We are completely enthusiastic about his warm voice, his virtuoso music and the choice of songs from across the charts and do highly recommend every Ao Nang visitor not to miss this pleasure.
It was a special evening and we were very happy to meet Jimmy Patrick. We wish Jimmy Patrick all the best for the future!
