Since we are already in Bangkok, we also want to get an impression about the street life at night. There are three large so-called red light districts. From the main station, we drive to Patong, the first of the three districts.
Patong
On our arrival, we are a bit shocked. The young women stand in groups and wait for guests. Involuntarily, we have the impression that things are going on here as well as in the workplace. Because you have to draw a number to enter into the queue.

A lot of illuminated billboards praise various establishments, located on the upper floors or side streets. We walk down the street and quickly leave the district.
Soi Cowboy

Soy Cowboy is the largest district. When we arrive, we meet a Chinese film team that obviously produces a comedy about Bangkok’s nightlife. With great effort one films in the midst of the hustle and bustle here. A ministerial officer from Bangkok ensures that there are no disturbances. We are interested in the resolution of the camera and learn that the RED cameras record with 6K.

To get an overview, we stroll down the street. The pubs look a bit better, but the picture resembles the first-visited district.
Nana Plaza
The last district we visit is Nana Plaza. It resembles the two previous ones, but here you find many pubs in the surrounding streets. Here as well, the young women are waiting everywhere.

It might be the poverty and the desire for a better life, which pushes the young women on the street. Still, Bangkok gives us some puzzles. The birth rate is very low. It is at 1.6 (2012). According to the statistics, two women get an average of 3 children. This can be explained by the intensified urban life in Thailand.
On our round trip through Isan, we once asked how one regularizes the heritage in the countryside. In agriculture, one child inherits the farm. The others have to look for a job. Many people go to the cities. Some young women end up in the amusement areas. A rather sad chapter!
