Finally, the Saturday after Easter arrived. It is the day when all hell has broken loose in Murcia. 900.000 people move through the city, which itself has “only” 450,000 inhabitants.
In the morning, a small parade, the Parade – Dona Sardina, takes place. When we arrive in front of the town hall, the Bolivian groups are already busy with preparations.

We pass the Cathedral and the Casino, along Calle Traperia to Plaza Santo Domingo.

While we are busy with photography, the place fills more and more with people.

The crowd is so dense that we almost did not notice the beginning of the parade. The first groups are already well known to us. First, there are the Bolivian groups “Bolivia and Carro de Refrescos 4 and Mr. Paco y Tomy”, then the St. Joseph’s pipe band Glasdrumman, County Down from Ireland and the Orkiestra Grandioso from Radom in Poland.

Then follow again the groups of Sardineros. There distribute again huge amounts of gimmicks, correspondingly large is the rush.

More InformationAfter the end of the parade, we hurry to the Plaza Circular. All important dignitaries have already gathered here.

After a small firework, many souvenir photos are taken. The friendly mayor also addresses some words to the German audience, direct into the camera.

On the way back to our hotel we meet Dona Sardina and can exchange a few words with her.
