Actually, we should stay 2 days in Alichur. But our tour guide hears that the annual horse games take place in Murghab. So he rebooked, and the next day, we traveled from Alichur to Murghab.
We head east. Already after a short time, we arrive at a small river that dams up to a small lake at this point. The water is crystal clear and has a turquoise green color.
It is the habitat of a densely packed fish swarm. A prophet would allegedly have taken a bath here.
After we have covered about a third of the distance to Murghab, we turn right and cross a small village.
Due to the lack of a bridge, we have to drive through a small river.
Then we reach the tomb of a Chinese commander. He came once with a caravan along the early Silk Road, which leads through the Wakhan Valley. Here he had died somewhat surprising, and his companions built this tomb for him.

After another third of our way to Murghab, we turn right into a wide valley that almost looks like a desert. Just a few short tufts of grass grow here. There are only a few tire tracks left, at which our drivers orientate themselves.
We reach a rock cave that lies on half height in the midst of a slope. Here, some prehistoric people have painted petroglyphs on the wall. Such petroglyphs belong to the first cultural testimonies of mankind and belong to the UNESCO-World heritage.
The Nayzatash Pass with a height of 4137 m is the highest point of the day before we enter the valley of Murghob at an altitude of 3600 m.
An artificial snow leopard marks the provincial border to Murghab. The power of the water has dug deep furrows into the gradient.
