Those of us, like we did, who believe that Kunming, in the province Yunnan, is a provincial town far away from Beijing, should quickly correct this perception.
3.5 million inhabitants, of which about 1 million live in the urban areas, modern architecture and skyscrapers, as far as the eye can see, make Kunming a modern city in the European sense.
