The Cathedral Montreal, Marie-Reine-du-Monde ( Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral), is the third largest church in the city.
It is located in the central district Ville-Marie and is certainly one of the most beautiful cathedrals.

More InformationAfter a fire destroyed the Cathedral of Saint-Jacques de Montreal in July 1852, Bishop Ignace Bourget gave the order for the construction a new cathedral.
Template for the building was a scale model of St. Peter’s in Rome. The inauguration of the new Cathedral Marie-Reine-du-Monde was in March 1894.
With 333 ft. of length, 150 ft. of width, 252 ft. of height, and a cupola with a diameter of 75 ft., the cathedral is about half the size of St. Peter’s Basilica.
Since May 2006, the Cathedral Marie-Reine-du-Monde is part of the National Historic Sites of Canada.
