Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Sacred Heart Church)
The church impresses with its architecture, which reminds us very much of the Carolingian architecture that also dominates Aachen Cathedral. In the center of the church building is the octagon, which is supposed to commemorate eternity.
The Herz-Jesu-Kirche was built from 1900 to 1903 in the Neo-Romanesque style. It was planned by the cathedral architect Ludwig Becker from Mainz and is considered one of the most important Neo-Romanesque sacred buildings in Germany. During the war, the church was severely damaged in air raids in 1944 but rebuilt between 1950 and 1953.
In 2011, a fire in the sacristy caused heavy soot in the nave. After months of restoration, the Herz-Jesu-Kirche shines again in a new splendor today.

Our apartment in dingdong Koblenz impresses with a sleeping area and a remarkable modern shower bath, which is only separated from the rest of the apartment by a patterned glass wall.

More InformationThe room has TV, free WiFi, and a small kitchenette, sufficient for preparing breakfast or a small meal. However, we had breakfast outside, as there are cafés and bakeries in the immediate vicinity, such as Ulrike`s Kulturbackhaus.
There is a peculiarity that the dingdong Koblenz – city apartments have no reception. For check-in and check-out, there is a self-service machine in the corridor that also issues the electronic room cards.
During our stay (New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day 2019, 2020), there was still some building dust in the staircase because one installed an elevator, but this increases the comfort even more.
The aparthotel dingdong Koblenz – city apartments are an ideal place to stay for a city trip to Koblenz. They lie conveniently at the entrance to the pedestrian zone in Löhrstrasse. The old town of Koblenz, as well as the central station, are within easy walking distance.
The dingdong city apartments are not only in Koblenz but also in Bonn.
