More InformationIn Greek mythology, it was one of the five rivers of the underworld. Charon, the ferryman of Hades had ferried the souls of the dead across the Acheron to hell.

Near the village of Glyki, crystal clear and ice-cold water bubbles out of the soil and rocks of both sides of the narrow canyon. This area is called Springs of Acheron.

Our dog was not concerned about the souls of the dead and enjoyed the surprising coolness in the heat of late Greek summer.
It’s very refreshing to walk through the river at this point; however, waterproof shoes are recommended.
