Peterborough Lift LockLock21 – is definitely one of the main attractions of Peterborough, Ontario Canada. It is located on the Trent-Severn Waterway that connects Lake Ontario with the upper Great Lakes.

The Peterborough Lift Lock was designed by the Canadian engineer Richard Birdsall Rogers. Opened on 9 July 1904, it is the highest hydraulic boat lift in the world. Since 1979, the Peterborough Lift Lock is one of the National Historic Sites of Canada.
It is fascinating to see how the boats overcome a height of 65 ft. in the water-filled caissons.
