Les Machines de l’ile in Nantes developed into a tourist draw.
Based on ideas of Jules Verne, a son of this city and of Leonardo da Vinci, François Delarozière and Pierre Orefice founded the project on the former shipyards of Nantes.

More InformationThe ideas were put into practice by the Performance group “La Machine”, an association of artists, engineers and craftsmen.

The biggest project up to now is the Grand Éléphant. It is 12 meters high and was built out of 48,4 metric tons of steel and wood.
Shortly before our arrival, the team had just completed an artificial dragon for China.

Le Carrousel des Mondes Marins, the giant carrousel of the sea world is equipped with mythical, mechanical figures from the imaginary world of Jules Verne.
