The Trooping the Colour ceremony is over 200 years old. At that time the flags served as rallying points clearly visible on the dusty battlefield.
The trooping of the flags and the ensigns of the regiments enabled the soldiers to recognize their regiments’ colors.
This custom has survived to this day and is an event for tourists from all around the world.

More InformationIn Canada, a Trooping the Colour ceremony is held on the last weekend in May – Victoria Day – in honor of the Queen’s Birthday. The last Trooping of The Colour parade on the parliament hill usually takes place the last weekend of public duties in August.
