Although the sun still shines on the magnificent building of the Swedish Riksbank, it is time for dinner. We go to the Restaurant CG, which is also in Storgatan.

Restaurant CG
Normally the Restaurant CG is closed on Sundays, but one has opened extra for us. That’s the reason why you don’t see people at the bar in the video below.
The Restaurant CG is a leading restaurant in Lulea. Here one places great emphasis on tradition. One uses seasonal products which predominantly come from local quality producers.

Upon arrival, the chef prepares our meal in the open kitchen. The tables on the left are set up with pretty glassware. A waitress pours us beer and schnapps. The beer is from a local micro brewery.

After a brief welcome, the Chef de Service and the chef explain the menu sequence. During the dinner, they also give us detailed information about the components and the preparation of the dishes.

Fredrik proposes a toast with a serenade, the starting signal for the first schnapps.

Our Menu
As a starter, we enjoy Löjrom, the caviar of the north. This Swedish delicacy and is from a small whitefish, a salmon species that can be found in the Gulf of Bothnia.
The Löjrom comes in the form of a fried egg, accompanied by pickled herring curled on slices of boiled potatoes, reindeer lichen with a finely tuned sauce.

The next course is arctic char cooked in the pizza oven.

The main course is a tender fried reindeer, garnished with lingonberries and mushrooms.

As a dessert one serves vanilla ice-cream on nuts and cloudberries, garnished with wild raspberries. Cloudberries are very rare and protected in Germany. They are the emblem of Lapland.

Exquisite wine rounds off the menu. We enjoyed the beautiful evening with the excellent menu very much and can highly recommend the Restaurang CG.

Between the dishes, I explore also the rear area of the stylish restaurant. Another room is lined with mirror cabinets and discreetly illuminated.
Besides that, there is a well-stocked wine cellar.

More InformationAs we leave the Restaurant CG the daylight still has not disappeared. Although it is almost midnight, we go to the Lulea Bay.

We marvel at the clear view and the Midnight Sun, which illuminates the horizon in unique colors.

This was one of our most beautiful moments in Sweden.
