Harley & Wein – Moselwein meets Harley - 2014

Harley & Wein, the great “Moselle wine meets Harley” event took place this year for the 16th time.

Every year, the wine-growing municipality Ürzig organizes jointly with the Mainhattan-Chapter Frankfurt an event of a special kind. On occasion of the Wine Festival Ürzig (08/01/2014 – 08/03/2014) two different worlds hit each other. Enjoying Ürziger wine and Harley-Davidson riding have commonalities: Both are culture and have style.

Also this year, many international Harley-Davidson drivers, such as Representatives from the Harley-Davidson Chapter Ghent, or from Ramstein Military Chapter followed the call to Ürzig.

Saturday is the day of the Moselle panoramic ride from Bernkastel-Kues to Wittlich. In the morning before the parade, the Harley-Davidson riders still had plenty of time to exchange experience, to take a little ride through the town or to buy a new outfit.

Just before 13:00 Clock hundreds of international Harley-Davidson riders gathered for the Moselle panoramic ride.

Eberhard Nitzsche, Treasurer & Road Captain of Manhattan Chapter Frankfurt welcomed the participants and wished the director Matthias Volpert, unfortunately fallen ill, all best and early recovery. Then Arno Simon, the mayor of Ürzig, welcomed the numerous guests and congratulated the Manhattan Chapter Frankfurt on their 20th anniversary.

Thereafter, one could only hear the distinctive sound of the Harley-Davidson. Led by the mayor and the wine queen Karina with their princesses the Harley-Davidson convoy started from Ürzig via Bernkastel-Kues to Wittlich.

Shortly before the start, there were a few drops of rain, but the weather was on the side of the bikers. Like last year thousands of enthusiastic spectators came to Ürzig to see the departure of the Harley-Davidson convoy.

Of course the cameras should not be missing, after all, one does not see so many Harley-Davidson every day. This year, more than 2000 bikers came to Ürzig.
