Herberstein Castle is located in “St. Johann bei Herberstein” in Styria, Austria. It is surrounded by ornate gardens which serve as venue for changing exhibitions.
The castle dates back to the 12th century and was altered fundamentally in the 17th century.
The huge animal park – structured according to the five continents – is very attractive. Besides the largest cheetah enclosure in Europe we were impressed by the wolf’s enclosure.
Here the 30 wolves share a large area with shelters outside the visitor’s area. In addition you find a separate are for the rare arctic wolves. Also the bison feel comfortable in the park.
The animal park stretches out from the in the Feistritz Gorge to the ridges high above.
