The Oide Wiesn (Bavarian dialect: old Oktoberfest) is a fenced-in area at the Oktoberfest.

Having heard that the “Oide Wiesn” is not as crowded as the Oktoberfest, we decided to visit it with Ursula’s cousin, her husband, and her granddaughter.
The entrance fee of € 4 (per person over 15 years of age) is used to cross-subsidize the rides. The Oide Wiesn emphasizes the traditional elements of the Oktoberfest.

Beer is still served in steins in the four tents. On the grounds, you will find historical testimonies and traditional rides. You only have to pay € 1.50 per ride on the rides. Each child gets a wristband on which the companions can write their mobile phone number, in case a child gets lost in the hustle and bustle.

All the offers are gladly accepted, as you can see in the pictures taken on Sunday noon. The modern rides at the normal Oktoberfest are impressive, some of which reach a height of almost 100 meters. You should also beware of dizziness and nausea on some of them. As a rule, it is better not to visit the Oktoberfest at the weekend unless you have reserved a place.

Originally, we wanted to enjoy the view from the Ferris wheel, but the queue was too long. So we took the opportunity two days later, shortly after opening.
Instead, Ursula’s cousin and her husband invited us to their garden just outside Munich.

One of the bungalows can be rented via Airbnb -> https://www.airbnb.de/rooms/34377752 .
