The Porsche Car Museum founded by Helmut Pfeifhofer has found a home in the manufacturing plant of the first Porsche in Gmünd in Austria.

Due to the threatening bomb raids, Ferdinand Porsche moved his headquarters from 1944 to 1950 to Gmünd.
His son Ferry Porsche built the 356 Coupé and the Porsche 356 No. 1 Roadster -the first vehicle with the name of the founder- in this plant.

Mr. Pfeifhofer founded the museum as a purely private initiative. It attracts about 60,000 visitors per year.
