The Restaurant Clémence is in the village of Saint Julien de Concelles, on the banks of the Loire river.

We are picked up again by Franck Pasquier. Franck is the founder of the agency VLO (Vignoble Loisirs organisation), organizing tours to the wine-growing estates as well as boat trips and events.
He drives us safely through villages and vineyards to the desired destination. Again, he has come up with something special: The Restaurant Clemence in St Julien de Concelles.

More InformationIt exists since 1885, when the stonemason Léon Lefeuvre built a small restaurant for his wife Clémence on the banks of the Loire where she served fish accompanied by a typical sauce of the region for the boatmen.
At first her sauce was not very popular but Clemence listened to the opinion of her customers and refined the taste continuously.
Today the Beurre Blanc is known throughout whole France and beyond its borders. A portrait of her still adorns the place.

In 2006, the restaurant was taken over by Mr and Mme Batard and developed into a well-known gourmet restaurant with specialties from the region.
Right at the entrance in the glass cabinet, we find again fish terrines of our fisherman from the Loire, Claude Janin.

Upstairs, the beautifully artistic-designed interior decoration immediately catches our eyes.
Upon inquiry Mme Batard admits that it is her responsibility. She tells us the history of the house and the preparation of the Beurre Blanc.

During a three-course meal with appetizer we could enjoy the famous sauce of the Restaurant Clémence.

The delicious food was as nicely presented, as we anticipated already by the interior decoration.
