El Hostal Puerta Bisagra

The hostel El Hostal Puerta Bisagra in Toledo is located in the immediate vicinity of the biggest city gate of Toledo, the Puerta de Bisagra. The term “hostel” means that it is a budget-oriented accommodation. We could not find any big differences to simple hotels. The reception is open 24 hours a day. The staff is always friendly and courteous.

Presumably, the building was already built in Moorish time, just as the neighboring city gate. The Hostal Puerta Bisagra has a square floor plan with a roofed courtyard in the middle.

The breakfast room is on the ground floor. The supporting beams between the floors in the inner courtyard are covered with glass panels. This gives you an impression of the original building substance and opens up interesting perspectives.

One can already inspect the breakfast buffet from the lobby. From the ground floor, you have a direct view into the top floors. Seeing furniture from below opens a completely unfamiliar viewpoint.

The corridors are full of nooks and crannies. But nice decorations and furniture make the orientation easier.

The rooms are simple but equipped with all necessary, including fast free WiFi. The small tasteful embellishments convey a private atmosphere. The bathroom is basic. The rooms are very clean. In the morning you can enjoy the extensive breakfast. Plenty of fresh fruit is available. The price/performance ratio is very good.

A lift brings you to a terrace on the roof. Here you have a beautiful view of the old town of Toledos and the northern foothills.

You reach the center of the old town of Toledo in about 10 minutes on foot. There is a bus stop close to the El Hostal Puerta Bisagra for those who find it difficult to walk up the hill to the old town.
