In the afternoon we leave Cordoba with the AVE high-speed train, in order to reach Malaga before nightfall. Actually we want to go to Granada. However, we did not succeed to reserve an AVE high-speed from Antequera to Granada via Internet.
Antequera is approximately located on half a way between Cordoba and Malaga at the Costa del Sol.

So we first go to Malaga, because it is closer to Granada and we can get a taste of another Spanish city. In Malaga we will also solve the problem with the train reservation.
We cross the Betic Cordilleras and still arrive at daylight in Malaga. After checking-in at the hotel we start our first evening in Malaga with a walk to the harbor.

From the Plaza de la Marina, there are only a few steps to the Málaga Cathedral, Santa Iglesia Catedral Basilica de la Encarnación.

The mighty church was built by the Christian conquerors on the foundations of a mosque, starting in 1528. The construction time was 254 years.
Due lack of money only one of 2 planned towers was built.

More InformationAs twilight falls, we turn back to the harbor promenade.

In the restaurant Amigos Grill we find a free table and decide to eat Mexican. The preparation of the dishes can be watched through a glass wall.

We enjoy the evening since here at the coast it is pleasantly cooler than the last few weeks inland.

The impressive scenery with the Castillo de Gibralfaro, the castle of Malaga, contributes to lighten the mood. In a good mood, we return to the hotel.
