The distance from Lop Buri to Bangkok is about 150 km. One last look at the steep karst rocks in the surroundings of the city, then the journey continues through a large plain. We cross small rivers and canals and drive along big paddy-fields. Passing Ayutthaya, we can recognize a Prang from the distance.
Only when we approach Bangkok, the urbanization grows rapidly. It is always amazing at what speed Bangkok has expanded. One literally disappears in a sea of skyscrapers.

The broad elevated freeways enable a fast access to the center. The numerous new buildings in between remind us that the growth of the city is far from reaching its end.
Phra Sumen Fort appears in front of us and we know that our hotel, the Navalai River Resort, is already very close. The next day will be a relaxing day in Bangkok before we continue to Vietnam.
