The first autumn storms arrive in Germany, when we leave for a larger Asian tour in 2015. From Wittlich we go by train along the Moselle to Koblenz.

From there we continue by Intercity-Express to Frankfurt airport. This is a particularly beautiful train ride, because the railway line runs along the Rhine passing the rock of the Lorelei at St. Goar and St. Goarshausen and well-known places like Oberwesel, Bacharach, Rüdesheim and Bingen.
We enjoy the first autumn colors and reach the airport after approx 2 hours.

More InformationArrival is the long-distance train station at the airport in Terminal 1. Here you find a check-in counter to hand in your luggage. We go upstairs and take the SkyLine to Terminal 2.
After extensive security checks (scan of the passport, photograph, baggage control, full body scan, explosives analysis and body scan), it is already dark when we sit in the airplane and take-off.

At the first sunbeams of the next day we reach Dubai after approx. 6 hours flight. We planned a Stopover of approx. 8 hours and want to use this time get an overview of Dubai.
On the Internet, we have already booked tickets for a hop-on hop-off bus tour and tickets for the Burj Khalifa, currently the tallest building in the world.
After we passed the immigration procedure (photograph, scan of the passport, hand baggage-check), we chose the SkyTrain to reach the next Hop-On Hop-Off station.

This was not a good decision, because the bus stop was hidden behind a block of buildings and we had to ask 3 times until we had found it.
In addition, it is no pleasure to walk through the streets of Dubai at perceived temperatures well of above 40 ° C, especially as we had to carry our hand luggage. It would have been better to take a taxi.
But then we sat in the bus, which was air-conditioned also upstairs and drove direction Burj Khalifa.
Dubai is always worth a stop over. You might also like to check out How To Spend a 12 Hour Layover in Dubai
