Shanghai is a city of superlatives with about 18 million inhabitants, including approx 6 million migrant workers (as of 2004). Of the historic old town of Shanghai, you only see some fragments.
A block was renovated, however, in the Chinese old town style. This part of Shanghai serves as a bazaar, for relaxation, and as a tourist attraction.
During our visit, a tea ceremony just took place, with a lot of media attention. It underlines the importance of tea for Chinese culture.
Many famous personalities, such as the German Chancellor and other presidents, have already visited the tea house in the old town. Why not take the opportunity to watch the tea preparation and enjoy the tea afterward.
