The evening of July 27, 2018, was very special. It was the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century. And next to the blood moon, the Mars and the International Space Station (ISS) appeared in the night sky.
We were lucky and could capture the event in videos. All three videos were filmed in Osann-Monzel at the Moselle with a view towards Brauneberg.
The video was created with a Sony Alpha 7R* and the application Timelapse. The single images have a format of 7852×5304 pixels. Unfortunately, our editing program cannot render in 8K.
The video was also created with a Sony Alpha 7R* but filmed as a 4K video. The Mars appears as a bright point below the moon.
The video was filmed with a Sony PXW-Z100* as a 4K video. Besides to the blood moon, it shows the moon as it emerges from the earth’s shadow.
Such a long lunar eclipse will not occur until June 9, 2123.
