Visitors, interested in Canadian culture, should not miss a visit of the Parliament in Ottawa.
The buildings of the parliament consist of three edifices, the East Block, Centre Block and the West Block.

We visited the Centre Block with Commons Chamber and the Senate. In the imposing Senate Foyer you can see rare portraits of the Queen.

The ceremonial baton of the government spokesman amidst the flags of the provinces underlines the influence of British culture.
In 1916, a fire destroyed the Center Block in large parts; it was rebuilt again until 1920.
