Sarrià Sant Gervasi - a village inside the city

Sarrià Sant Gervasi is located in the north-west of Barcelona, at the foot of Tibidabo, the local mountain of the town. Once a Roman colony, it was first mentioned in documents in 987; Until 1921 it was an independent village outside Barcelona. Today it is part of the urban area of the Barcelona.

Nevertheless, Sarrià Sant Gervasi has retained its charm from the old days. Over the years, the traditional architecture of the village with its typical grocery store and centuries-old shops, has been supplemented with typical Catalan summer villas and elegant apartments.

The Major de Sarria, the main street with its small houses and narrow streets can be easily reached by bus.

A part of the street is reserved for pedestrians only. On the Plaça Sarrià you find a large market, the Mercat de Sarrià, opened in 1900, and the Monastery Església de Sant Vicenç de Sarriá.
