After our visit in Segovia, we continue our journey to Avila, also one of the historical Spanish metropolises near Madrid. We decide to take the bus again to see more of the country.
The city of Avila lies in the autonomous community of Castile and León, about 85 km northwest of Madrid. Unlike our last bus trip from El Escorial to Avila, the journey concluded without any problems.
Journey from Segovia to Avila
A major part of the journey leads through wide planes which are only interrupted by small valleys and villages. The route runs parallel to the Sierra de Gredos, that is part of the Castilian (Iberian) Systema Central. The mountains are only recognizable from afar.

The places tell about the everyday life of the countryside, which is mainly agriculture and agriculture. Mainly wine, vegetables, potatoes, and grains are cultivated here.

More InformationThe bus repeatedly leaves the motorway and drives into the villages. The narrow country roads testify the low economic potential of the region.

Only when we approach Avila, the scenery changes. Tourism is of great importance for Avila. But Nissan also has a large factory here and invested heavily in the last few years.

At the bus station, we take a taxi, which brings us the last meters through the narrow streets of the city center to our hotel.
