This year, the TBEX (Travel Blogger Conference) Europe takes place in Stockholm*. We do not want to miss a visit to this beautiful city. The modern congress center at the waterfront offers the perfect setting for such an event.
The large hall in front of the conference rooms is the ideal base for the speed dating. Here, travel bloggers meet the travel industry to discuss collaboration, or perhaps receive sponsorship or a press trip.
Some countries also use the meeting to promote their destinations or their web offers.
A rolling suitcase with built-in electric motor gets a lot of attention. However interesting the idea is, it can not completely convince us. The engine occupies a relatively large amount of space in the suitcase. This and creates extra weight in the luggage, which at flights is often already tight. But more important is the fact that a high-performance battery is necessary.
Nowadays also the battery capacity is limited on many flights. This is usually already exhausted with film cameras, laptops, mobile phones and photo cameras. If besides, you are traveling with a drone, you might already have problems. This existing limitation is further increased by a battery in the case. There is also a certain risk of accidents when you use the rolling suitcase on the uneven ground. It is possible that you fall off.
The presentations are the main content of the conference. We would especially like to mention the closing keynote by Lola Akinmade Åkerström. She gives an emotional appealing speech on the topic of why we are actually traveling.
Another interesting presentation is the one of Shane Dallas, also known as The Travel Camel. He explains how to reach a million audience with Google+. We have recorded the presentation in separate video.
Betsy and Pete Wuebker give useful tips and share their experience on how to monetize a blog with print on demand.
The conference ends with a sociable drink in the congress center. The last opportunity to exchange ideas and make new plans.
We would like to thank the sponsors and the organizer of TBEX Stockholm for providing us with drinks and catering.
