After a short walk past the Basilica of St. Paulinus, the statue of Trier’s most famous citizen Karl Marx and the monument from Roman times, the Porta Nigra, we reach the Christmas market.
The Christmas market in Trier is spread over several squares – the medieval Main Market (Hauptmarkt), the Domfreihof, and the Kornmarkt.

More Information
When we arrive at the Hauptmarkt, it is still light, so there are relatively few visitors in the squares.
We head down to the ice rink at Kornmarkt. Here, young and old have fun ice skating.

As dusk falls, the Christmas lights illuminate the hustle and bustle, and the atmosphere increases in front of the impressive silhouette of Trier Cathedral.

Stallholders offer arts and crafts, decorative items, spices, honey, and other specialties. Mulled wine, potato pancakes, and other sweet and salty delicacies to strengthen you round off the offer.
