The city of Lato was built in the 7th century by the Dorians. It was built on a Minoan settlement from the 1500 century BC. The ruins of Lato date mainly from fifth and fourth centuries BC.
The journey ends in Ierapetra, Crete’s fourth largest city. It is located in the southeast at the narrowest point of the island. The distance between north and south of the island is only 12 km as the crow flies.
