From the lake of Banyoles, we take a bus through the green surroundings. 1-2 million years ago, Siberian tiger, mammoth, rhino and elephant lived in this area.

Crespià
We reach the little idyllic village of Crespià.

The stone houses, the little bridge over the creek, the narrow streets and passageways provide plenty of motives, you can’t get enough of.

The church of Santa Eulalia de Crespià, a medieval fortified church, which was later expanded to a hospice, and the village convey the impression as if the time has stopped.

More InformationResclosa d’Esponellà
We walk through vast fields, repeatedly interrupted by woods, along the high banks of the river El Fluvià and enjoy the marvellous views of almost untouched nature.

After approx 1.5 km we come across the remains of the dilapidated church of Sant Bartomeu del Portell.

When we climbed down a steep slope, the view opens up to the reservoir of Esponellà.

A small power station still seems to generate electricity. The water level is low and a larger area in front of the lock is dry. A musician drums soft sounds while a young woman lasciviously moves to the music.

A little dog has fun with it and wants to join the dance.
Sant Miquel de la Roca
Sant Miquel de la Roca is a small church built directly into the cliff face.

We reach the interior over a steep iron ladder. Originally it consisted of two rooms and presumably had a false ceiling to an upper floor.

It dates from the 12th century and was probably inhabited by a hermit. Fresh water was obtained from a fountain. The views are amazing. Indulged in our thoughts we walk back to Crespià.
